New Minimum Wage in NCR

The Goverment through the has just recently approved a wage order that will increase the wage of minimum wage workers in the National Capital Region by P21.

The Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board (RTWPB) approved the adjustment last Thursday, September 14, 2017. Minimum wage workers in the National Capital Region (NCR)  will receive a P21 increase in their daily salary. This will take effect on October 5, 2017.

With this wage order, the existing P491 daily minimum salary for minimum wage earners in 17 cities and municipalities in Metro Manila will rise to P512.

In the meantime, the minimum wage for those in non-agricultural sector shall be P512 per day.

Those in the agricultural sector shall be entitled to P475, composed of the P465 basic wage and the P10 COLA.

According to the board, “The wage rates shall apply to all minimum wage earners in the private sector in the region regardless of their position, designation, or status of employment and irrespective of the method of which they are paid.”

The wage order will not apply to demostic works, persons in the personal service of another, and workers in the Barangay Micro Business Enterprises.
