HRIS, HCM, HRMS

What is HRIS, HRMS and HCM?

The term Human Resources refers to the people that comprise or make-up the workforce of a company or organization. This term can also be referred to as Human capital, and the two are sometimes used interchangeably.

The Human Resources Department (or simply referred to as HR Department) of an organization has the main responsibility of managing the Human Resources of company, and this includes overseeing the following:

  • Overseeing recruitment
  • Compliance with labor laws
  • Administering and managing employee benefits
  • Dismissal of employees

HRIS stands for Human Resource Information System. HRMS stands for Human Resource Management System. HCM stands for Human Capital Management System. Whether you refer to it as HRIS, HRMS, or HCM, most of the time these refer to one and the same thing. HRIS / HRMS / HCM is a software or software suite used to manage the employees of a company.

  • HRIS – Human Resource Information System
  • HRMS – Human Resource Management System
  • HCM – Human Capital Management System

It is normally composed of several modules that help focus on different aspects of managing the company’s employees. Some systems might contain only a few modules, but a complete HRIS, HRMS or HCM like the Everything At Work System should contain a complete suite of modules.
